Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program - Part B
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program provides HIV-related services in the United States for those who do not have sufficient health care coverage or financial resources for coping with HIV disease, and is funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
Part B of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program provides grants to States and U.S. Territories.
Part B grants fund core medical services and support services.
Core medical services include:
- outpatient and ambulatory health services,
- ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program),
- AIDS
pharmaceutical assistance,
- oral health care,
- early intervention services,
- health insurance premium and cost-sharing assistance,
- medical nutrition therapy,
- home and community-based health services,
- mental health,
- outpatient substance abuse care,
- medical case management, and
- treatment adherence services.
Support services that are needed for people with HIV/AIDS to achieve their medical outcomes
include:
- outreach services,
- medical transportation, and
- referrals for health care and support services.
Most States provide some services directly, while others (like Florida) work through subcontracts with Part B HIV Care Consortia. PCHAP (Partnership for Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Planning) is the local consortium, which is an association of public and nonprofit health care and support service providers and community-based organizations that plans, develops, and delivers services for people living with HIV disease.
